Simon Willison: a laptop Qwen model can also read model weights
After this week's buzzy paper on GPT-6 Astra interpreting raw model weights, Simon Willison got Qwen 3.8 27B on his laptop to do the same thing in about 45 minutes. Paired with a widely shared rebuttal calling the Astra post misleading, it takes some of the air out of the claim.
